To teach Math or Science in a middle or secondary school in California, you must have the Single Subject Teaching Credential. 

You will need:

A Bachelor's Degree or higher

Participate in Teacher preparation program (credential program, including student teaching)

Pass the CBEST test (proficiency in basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills) http://www.cbest.nesinc.com/

Pass the CSET (subject matter competency http://www.cset.nesinc.com/

Complete developing English Language skills courses

Complete U.S. Constitution course

Foundational computer technology course

California Teach provides:

Fulfilling the field experience prerequisite required by most Teacher Preparation programs.

Unique classes on how to teach math or science. Most of Teachers Preparation programs are not subject specific.

Advising on UCLA classes covering CSET materials, and other prerequisites.

CSET preparation and financial aid.
