Science Teacher Education Program (STEP)
The Science-Education Teacher Preparation Program at UCLA welcomes all
students with majors in the Life and Physical Sciences to explore science
teaching as a career. The overall program covers three years: the junior,
senior, and postgraduate credential year. The program seeks to prepare high
quality science majors for teaching careers at the secondary level, in
public urban schools.
Mathematics for Teaching
Mathematics for Teaching is a major designed for students who have a
substantial interest in teaching mathematics at the secondary level.
Teacher Preparation Program in Mathematics
The objective of the program is to interest prospective undergraduate
mathematics majors in a school teaching career. The program provides these
mathematics majors two quarters of closely supervised experience
(internships) in school classrooms during their senior year and appropriate
education courses during that year and the following summer. The fifth year
consists of a full year's teaching experience under an emergency teaching
credential with a parallel seminar on student teaching followed by
additional coursework the next summer.
Teacher Education Program (TEP), UCLA Center X
TEP offers an opportunity for students to obtain both a Master of Education
degree (M.Ed) and a Multiple or Single Subject credential, with an optional
BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-cultural Language Academic Development) Credential.
TEP operates as a fully approved program based on standards set forth by the
California Commission on Teaching Credentialing.
